China and five Central Asian nations Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan established a landmark cooperation mechanism to bolster regional preparedness for emergencies, during a ministerial meeting held on Thursday in Urumqi, China.

Participating countries signed a memorandum of understanding outlining a concrete action plan (2024-2026) and established a dedicated working team to drive China-Central Asia emergency management cooperation forward.

After the meeting, delegations from the five Central Asian nations will observe emergency rescue exercises and view demonstrations on firefighting, oil and gas pipeline accident management, as well as rescue equipment.
