China Anticipates Surge in Spring Festival Travel

At a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday, the Director of the Passenger Transport Department of the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., said that during the holiday season, China’s railway network is expected to handle 480 million passenger trips, an average of 12 million trips per day.

It marks an increase of 37.9 percent compared to the previous year. Current ticket pre-sales data indicate an obvious growth trend in the number of passengers traveling for family visits and tourism purposes. To bolster the transportation capacity during the holiday season, 12,700 train trips will be run per day.
