China’s domestic tourism market surges during Spring Festival holiday

Chinese people made a staggering 474 million domestic trips during the Spring Festival holiday, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The figure represents a remarkable year-on-year increase of 34.3 percent.

If calculated on a comparable basis, it is up 19 percent from the same period in 2019. In terms of international travels, approximately 6.83 million inbound and outbound trips were made during the holiday.

Inbound and outbound tourism achieved accelerated recovery, boosted by favorable policies such as visa exemptions, convenient customs clearance, and the resumption of international flights.
