Child Rights : National Committee on Children's Rights held its meeting

National Committee on Children's Rights held its meeting at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Friday. Committee Chairman Union Minister Dr. Soe Win attended the meeting and made a speech.

The Union Minister said Myanmar is a member country of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child-UNCRC and called for secure fundamental child rights, focusing on 4 pillars of child rights: the right to survival, development, protection, and participation.

To conduct the tasks effectively in Myanmar, the Child Rights Law was enacted on 21st August 2025 along with the reformation of the National Committee on Children's Rights. In order for systamatic development of children from infant to the age of 8, Policy for Early Childhood Care and Development was adopted along with the issuance of permission to open pre-schools.

For well development of children during 1,000 days, over 12 billion kyats cash assistance is provided to more than 129,000 pregnant women and children of 2 years old during 2025-2026 Fiscal Year. For children who committed crimes, implementation are underway to summit reports for child rights. The attendees reported on completion of working processes and implementation of child supervision reports, and made discussion on child rights.
