Children in western Japan dressed up as demons in the traditional "onibashiri" ritual at Chojuji Temple in Konan City. The event allowed local elementary students to experience the custom, which is rooted in centuries of cultural heritage.

This event is also tied to Japan's broader folk traditions regarding demons or ogres and deities who visit communities to pray for health and good discipline. Several iconic rituals across the country feature similar themes.
