Cherry trees are expected to be in full bloom in a week

Cherry blossoms started blooming in Tokyo on Friday, five days later than they usually do.The Meteorological Agency announced the start of the cherry blossom season, after it spotted eleven blossoms on a benchmark cherry tree at Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo.
An official said the blossoms began to bloom later than they usually do, owing to the low temperatures we have been seeing since late February. Cherry trees are expected to be in full bloom in about a week or 10 days.
