Ceremony of Signing MoU: DoL and IOM signed MoU extension

Union Minister for Labour U Aung Kyaw Hoe received Mr. Iori Kato, Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), at the reception hall of the Ministry’s temporary office building in Nay Pyi Taw on August 12.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation matters relating to safe and secure migration in line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2015 between the Department of Labour under the Ministry of Labour and IOM, the assistance IOM is currently providing to Myanmar migrant workers and IOM’s ongoing activities in Myanmar.

Next, the Union Minister attended the ceremony for signing of the MoU extension between the Department of Labour, and IOM to enhance cooperation in migration management, held in the meeting hall of the temporary office building.

In his remarks, the Union Minister stated that the signing of the MoU with IOM would contribute to supporting technologies that ensure safe and secure migration, as well as further promote ethical recruitment systems.

Following this, Mr. Iori Kato explained the current state of IOM’s cooperation, and Director General of the Department of Labour along with the Chief of Mission of IOM Myanmar, signed the MoU on enhanced cooperation in migration management.
