






Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin attended a donation ceremony to offer alms and day meals to the Myauk-U Sayadaw, Chancellor of the Rakhapura Buddhist University, the Mrauk-U Dhamma Center, and Presiding Sayadaw of the Ratana Mānn Aung Tawya Meditation Centers, held at the meeting hall of the Rakhine State Government Office in the morning on August 4.
First, the Chief Minister, along with his wife and members of the state government, joined with the congregation led by the Myauk-U Sayadaw to offer flowers, oil lamps, and water as homage to sacred Buddha images resided within the Lokananda Pagoda in Sittwe.
Following that, they paid respects and paid homage to the ancient historical Sakkya Muni Buddha image located inside the eastern chamber of Lokananda Pagoda, as well as the Maravijaya and Abhaya Rajamuni အဘယရာဇမုနိ Buddha Images enshrined on the platform of the pagoda. They also observed the placement of heat-resistant stone slabs laid on the pagoda platform.
Later, the donation ceremony resumed at the state government meeting hall, where the Chief Minister and attendees offered day meals and donations to the Myauk-U Sayadaw and the Sangha. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister and the audience took the Five Precepts administered by Myauk-U Sayadaw.
Afterward, the Sayadaw and the Sangha recited Paritta Suttas. The Chief Minister, his wife, the Chief Justice of the State High Court, State Government Ministers, and responsible officials continued by offering alms and requisites to the Sayadaw and members of Sangha.
To conclude, the audience led by the Chief Minister and his wife listened to a sermon from the Sayadaw and shared the merit of their donations. Finally, they offered the day’s meal to the Sayadaw and the members of Sangha.
