Central Committee Meeting: SAC member Chairman of CCDAC addressed the meeting

As the government of Myanmar provided X-Ray machines that can examine the large cargo trucks, handheld X-Ray machines, Rigaku X-ray machines which can examine the chemical compounds, the captures of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is on the rise.

Moreover, the partner organizations such as AFP, DEA, NNCC, ONCB etc. also provided modern examining equipments, said, Member of the State Administration Council Chairman of Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut at the central committee meeting (1/2022) held at the Areindama Hall, Head Office of Myanmar Police Force in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on 14th December under the health guidelines of the COVID-19.

During 2022, over 1.1 tons of opium, over 1.32 tons of heroin, over 164.87 million of stimulant tablets, more than 21.75 tons of ICE (methamphetamine), 2.04 tons of Ketamine, other drugs and precursor chemicals used in drugs manufacturing worth over 1069.94 billion Kyats, according to the chairman of CCDAC.

The Chairman of CCDAC added that among over 190 countries on the world, about 190 countries are facing the drugs related problems. According to the World Drug Report released by UNODC in 2022, the methamphetamine is standing as the main drug problem in East and South-East Asia. For the time being, as the restricted chemicals are exposing forward, it’s playing important role in drug problems.

To solve the narcotic drugs problem facing by the whole country, all are urged to take part in the active role in the implementation in line with the new policy already released and the efforts of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions and States Anti-Drug Elimination forces needed to increase double in 2023 etc.

The central committee secretary, joint secretary and attendees reported the review on the efforts for the control the narcotic drugs, the plans to be implemented in the future and the required advices and suggestions. After delivering a speech of conclusion by the Central Committee Chairman, the meeting was concluded, it’s learnt.
