The winners for the Painting Competition in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Yangon University were announced on Friday.
A total of 52 paintings from 50 participants were displayed for the competition which aims to reveal the essence of Yangon University.
The judges from prize scrutinizing Group for painting competition selected the winning pieces at the Recreation Center in Yangon University.
The prize scrutinizing Group was comprised with the faculties from the University of Arts and Culture and the professionals from the Myanmar Art Association.
Judge, Prize Scrutinizing Group, Myat Tun Aung said "There is no limitation for age of the participants. We have the senior level competitors and the young people like high school students.
So, we can see the different taste of art. Actually, this competition has to conduct with the involvement of many people since it has been held once in 100 years.
Whatever, I am proud of celebrating this event instead of without having any celebrations."
Judge, Prize scrutinizing group, Moe Kyaw Thant said "The invitation period is short. It's only for about one month.
There are totaling 52 paintings. Among them, we have 25 water color paintings and 27 acrylics."
For the acrylics paintings, the size was designated as 1.5 x 2 ft while 15 x 20 inches size for water colour painting.
The scrutinizing members selected eight paintings for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and special prizes.
Judge, Painting Competition, Kyi Win said "Today we judge the image of the university that appears in the heart of the painters. Themes, ideas and their works were required to draw a painting.
The competitors are from all regions but Yangon is the most amid of Covid-19 disease. Today's 50 paintings are equal to the 500 paintings in the previous painting competition because it is difficult to feel, draw and compete during this period.
So, I would like to say that these 50 paintings are classic paintings."
U Tin Win (Kant Kaw Ywar Tin Win) won the first prize, Daw Phoo Myat Thazin Naing grabbed the second prize, and Daw Wah Wah Shein achieved the third prize.
And the special prizes went to Kyaw Swar, Pachi Ko Ko Aung, Kyaw Moe Lwin, Min Soe and Thaung Htun.
