The Ministry of Immigration and Population held the 2024 Population and Housing Census Data Users Workshop on Tuesday morning. Central Census Commission Chairman and Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing attended the event together with senior officials from relevant ministries, members of the Surveys and Statistic Standards Working Committee, census data users and invited guests.

In his remarks, the Union Minister said the 2024 Population and Housing Census was conducted in October 2024, followed by a pilot population census on 31 December 2024 to provide immediate baseline data for national planning. He noted that the Union Report, which analyzes census data and presents key statistics and indicators, along with a summary report and user-friendly data, was released on 27 October 2025.

The Union Minister stressed that the census statistics should be widely analyzed and used by various sectors to support socio-economic development. Reports containing population and socio-economic data for Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Bago regions will be published soon, while reports for the remaining regions and states will follow. He added that population projections will continue to be carried out to produce annual population estimates based on the 2024 census data. The census results will serve as a key reference for national policy and development planning and data users were also urged to make effective use of the statistics.

After the group photo session, the workshop continued with discussions on the 2024 Population and Housing Census process, collected data, population estimates, and information that can be derived from the census, as well as further work based on the data. Statistical data related to the census can be viewed and downloaded by data users and the public on the Department of Population website at www.dop.gov.mm.
