Celebrating Tradition: Kayin New Year festival in Myitkyina

Under the supervision of Myitkyina Township Kayin Literature and Culture Association, a ceremony to mark Kayin New Year Festival was held on Friday in Myitkyina Township of Kachin State. Member of the Central Advisory Body of National Defence and Security Council Daw Dwe Bu, State Advocate General, wife of State Chief Minister and many other concerned officials attended the ceremony.

The Chairman of Kayin Literature and Culture Association and the State Minister for Ethnic Affairs delivered speeches respectively, encouraging the ethnic nationals to preserve their literature, dialect and custom, upholding unity and patriotism. Then,  cash assistance were provided to the Kayin Literature and Culture Association.

After enjoying Kayin traditional dances, the member of the Central Advisory Body of NDSC presented cash awards to the performance troupes.
