Thieves smashed display cases and grabbed priceless jewels from an eastern German museum in the early hours of Monday in a lightning raid on one of Europe's greatest collections of treasures, police said. Security footage from Monday morning captured the moment that thieves smashed open one of the display cabinets at Green Vault Museum before stealing three ensembles of early 18th century jewellery in diamond, ruby and emerald. The museum had described the stolen goods as priceless, claiming it would be impossible to see the objects on the open market.
