




The cartoon and painting contest marking the 75th Diamond Jubilee Independence Day was held at the No.2 Basic Education High School in Latha Township on Monday.
There are 43 townships in Yangon Region and the finalists were chosen for regional levels after holding the township and district level competitions by the Basic Education Department.
Sein Win, Deputy Director (Education), Yangon Region Education Officer Office, said " We selected 12 contestants for each township. Out of 192, 177 contestants were participated in the contest. There are 5 topics related to the traffic and road safety. The students can draw paintings and cartoons with one topic as they like. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and special prizes will be awarded. We have already held poem, essay and article contests in the last month, organized by the Education Department."
The contestants at the competition said that they illustrate road and traffic signs, awareness on traffic safety in the painting and cartoon arts.
Contestant (Painting), No.6 B.E.M.SKyauktada, said " I participated in the painting contest. There are 5 topics and among them, I have to choose one topic. My painting is about traffic and road safety illustrating how to cross the road, traffic signboard and the time when we should across the road by looking at the traffic light. I will try the best to win prize at the competition."
ZinZinOo, Contestant (Painting), Pyinnya Myit Mo Private High School, said " The topic of my paint is “Traffic safety around the school environs”. I portray that the traffic police is helping teachers and students when they cross the road and traffic sign in my paint."
ShuMawa, Contestant (Cartoon), Practising High School, Kamayut, said " I participated in the cartoon contest marking the 75th Diamond Jubilee Independence Day. My topic is about To provide traffic safety at any time. I raise awareness on traffic and road safety in my cartoons."
The competition was organized by the Yangon Region Government in commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee Independence Day. The event was held with the aim for raising awareness on traffic and road safety among the students and turning out outstanding students in the painting and cartoon arts.
