Carnival groups rally in support of Lula ahead of Brazil election

The campaign mobilization in Rio de Janeiro, where cultural street groups traditionally known as blocos—used carnival arts to build momentum for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ahead of the upcoming Brazil election. Known primarily for Rio's famous pre-Carnival block parties, the blocos mobilized along Copacabana beach featuring live samba bands, drummers, dancers, and political banners in support of Lula's reelection bid.

The campaign comes as President Lula competes for a fourth term against Senator Flávio Bolsonaro. Lula’s campaign emphasis remains centered on defending national sovereignty, boosting social welfare programs, protecting environmental policies in the Amazon, and expanding economic support for lower-income households.
