A cobbled alley coolly lit in the colors of the Venezuelan flag showcases Caracas at night. Visitors are steadily returning to the capital's city center which authorities and charities have worked to revitalize for several years.

Years of economic crisis had impacted local businesses and activity in a city which once provided a plethora of nightlife options. But Fundhea, a nonprofit promoting the recovery of sites of historical, cultural and environmental interest in order to boost tourism, began to organize tours around Caracas some 15 years ago. The downtown tours were designed to help people get to know historic sites and feel safe walking in the city. Fundhea had to temporarily halt those operations due to the coronavirus pandemic, but is now back in action.
