








The Myanmar led by the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo who were in India together with Myanmar Ambassador to India U Moe Kyaw Aung on September 20 visited ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute carrying out in connection with the State-owned National Seed Corporation (NSC) and observed the research plantations and discussed acquiring the timely sown and early matured variety of pigeon pea and variety of mung bean tolerant to viruses and high yielding and large sized white chickpea variety which are suitable to grow in Myanmar.
Later, at Dr. Swami Nathan library, Dr. A. K. Singh and experts explained about the work collaboration between ICAR and NSC and organizational formation, responsibilities, the prospect conditions to cooperate with Myanmar, the State-owned Corporation of National Seed Corporation with private organizations and formers’ associations.
Then, the union minister collaborated about the implementation for turning out the high competent human resources and availability of technologies boosting production of agricultural products, post harvest technology and technologies to produce value-added products in the Advanced Centre for Agricultural Research and Education (ACARE) under the Myanmar-India cooperation program.
Then, Myanmar delegation led by the union minister visited sale promotion center of New Delhi based BIDANO Company which produces the value-added products based on black bean, pigeon pea and other beans and pulses and viewed the snacks and instant curries made of various beans.
On September 21, the union minister and party attended the business matching between India Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA) ၊ Overseas Agro Traders Association (OATA) and Myanmar Pulses, Beans and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association (MPBSMA) Sofitel Hotel in Mumbai and the chairman of IPGA Mr. Bimbal Kothari, chairman of OATA Mr. Shyam Narsaria and Myanmar Ambassador to India U Moe Kyaw Aung discussed the status of beans and pulse trading between Myanmar and India, bean demand of India, condition to expand bean plantation and the status of millet, sesame and oil crops and the attendees supplemented necessaries.
At the meeting, the union minister discussed the quota agreement regarding black bean and pigeon pea export between Myanmar and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution of India was signed till 2026.
In addition, the mung bean and other beans are needed to export in the future bean export. At the moment, the price of crop is soaring due to the hiked price of fertilizer and fuel, cost of production and transportation charged, so, if the direct transportation with the Coastal Liners is used between Myanmar and India, the transportation charges can be reduced and the consumers can enjoy the cheaper prices, for the those industries, the India investors are invited to invest in Myanmar, not only in the production industries but also in the transportation and production of value-added products, the investments are invited.
Then, the union minister U Tin Htut Oo, chairman of IPGA and Chairman of OATA received interviewing by the India CBS. Myanmar delegation together with Myanmar ambassador met with the responsible officials from Mahyco seed Production Company, Safal Company and Metahelix Company at JW Marriot Hotel and discussed the exports of cotton and oil crop sunflower seeds into Myanmar, conducting research test works and coordination with India seed production companies in Myanmar and the investment in the establishing cooking oil purifier plant in Myanmar were discussed while meeting with the officials of DVC.
Myanmar delegation led by the Union Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo arrived back at Yangon in the evening on 22nd September, it’s learnt.
