Corridas are a controversial tradition practiced in several Latin American countries and Spain, as well as parts of southern France and Portugal.

In July 2024, Colombian President Petro signed into law a bill banning bullfighting, putting an end to the practice, which its constitution recognizes as part of the country's culture. In November, the French Senate will debate a ban on children under 16 attending both bullfights and cockfighting.
