Buddhism in Russia: SAC Chairman visit Buddhist Temple in Ulan-Ude

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and delegation members arrived Ulan-Ude of the Republic of Buryatia on Friday afternoon, and were welcomed at Baikal Airport by the Head of Government and officials.

They then observed the latest model helicopter, manufactured by the Republic of Buryatia. The Prime Minister and party later proceeded to Ivolginsky Dastan Buddhist Temple where the Head of the Center of Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia and members explained about the religious matters being performing in the temple.

The Prime Minister and party later paid respect to the body of 12thKhambo Lama, and listened to the explanation about the flourishing of Sasana by the Khambo Lama. The Head of the Center explained the efforts for flourishing of Buddhism in Russia, and also said that the establishment of the Shwezigon Pagoda in Moscow provides great support for the flourishing of Buddhism.

The Prime Minister said the religious edifices are being preserved and the tallest marble Buddha Image is being built in Mara Vijaya Buddhist Garden in Nay Pyi Taw Dekkhina Thiri Township.

Moreover, the Buddhist scriptures are also inscribed on the stone plaques in Pali and Romanize language. The Prime Minister later donated Buddha images and cash donation.

Ivolginsky Dastan Buddhist Temple is located near VerkhnyayaIvolga Village, 23 kilometer from Ulan-Ude. It was opened in 1945. It was the residence of the Central Spiritual Board of Buddhists of the USSR and later of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia. It is a home to the epicentre of Buddhism in Russia, and is carrying out for Buddhist studies and practices.
