Bridge Commissioned Into Service: MCRD Union Minister attended inauguration of bridge

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development, U Hla Moe, attended the opening ceremony of a 150-foot-long steel-reinforced concrete bridge built with funding from the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025, connected the villages of Ywa Thit and Aung Myin Kone taken place on January 30 in honoring the 78th Union Day.

During the event, the Union Minister gave a speech emphasizing the government's efforts to promote development in Myanmar, aiming to reduce the development gap between urban and rural areas. He mentioned that the bridge, which is 150 feet in length and 20 feet in width, was constructed as part of ongoing efforts to improve rural infrastructure.

The bridge will serve villages in the area, benefiting over 1,600 households and a population of over 7,000. The Minister called on the local community and the relevant authorities to take responsibility for the long-term maintenance and care of the bridge to ensure its durability.

Following the speech, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun U, provided an update on ongoing rural development projects in the Nay Pyi Taw area, including road and bridge construction, agricultural initiatives, and support for micro-small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). A representative from the local community expressed gratitude for the construction of the bridge.

In recognition of the opening, gifts were presented to the officials attending the ceremony. Finally, Union Minister U Hla Moe, U Than Tun Oo, and officials commemorated the event by sprinkling the bridge inscription with fragrant water. They then inspected the newly built structure and discussed further steps for regional development with local villagers, addressing any additional needs.

After that, Union Minister and officials also visited several agricultural projects in the area, including livestock breeding programs in Talope-pin Village and broccoli cultivation in Village. They ensured that ongoing efforts were being conducted effectively and provided guidance on future development initiatives.

Through this, the Union Minister also reviewed the successful cultivation of Suryakiran (Indian variety of sunflower) in Tha-Htay-Gone Village, Pyinmana Township, the breeding of beef cattle, and the conditions for raising 4,000 meat chickens run by New Hope Poultry farm. It is reported that the necessary support and coordination were provided to ensure the effective implementation of these projects.
