Border Trade : Over 8,000 tons of Rohu exported to Bangladesh

Myanmar has been exporting Rohu fish to Bangladesh through Sittway and Maungtaw border trade posts since 2016.From 1st April to 10th September 2022, over 8,000 tons of Rohu fish worth over 10.021 Million USD have been exported to Bangladesh. [Soundbite] 70% of the total export is Rohu and also other items such as, dried fish and prawn, sometimes hilsa fishes are shipped to Bangladesh while the import goods are electronic items, soft drinks, kid’s toys and medicines. At present, fishes from Yangon and Ayeyarwaddy region are being delivered to Sittway and Maungtaw border trade posts and export to Bangladesh. There is no enough fish farming for export business in Sittway yet, it’s learnt.
