Boosting Tourism Industry: Meeting with Russian Economic Development Minister

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung together with Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Kan Zaw received a delegation led by Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Mr. Maxim Reshetnikov at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport on 3rd December.

On the occasion, they exchanged views on visiting of Russian visitors to Myanmar and cooperation in tourism industry of the two countries. After that, they proceeded to Ngapali beach by air. On 4th December, Union Minister Dr.HtayAung held meeting with the chairman and executive members of Hotelier Association (Rakhine Zone) at Aureum Palace Hotel on Ngapali beach in Thandwe Township.

At the meeting, the Union Minister said that Russia is a good prospect of tourism market for Myanmar and the state has allowed Russian tourists to be visa exemption. In the 7th Eastern Economic Forum during the Prime Minister’s visit to Russia in September 2022, the two countries agreed to cooperate in various economic sectors.Russian tourists love beaches and they especially like Ngapali Beach.

By inviting Russian tourists, it will contribute to the socio-economic development of the state and local people. He urged business operators to participate in the tourism, transportation and logistic dialogue held in connection with the 3rd Inter-Governmental Russia-Myanmar Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Meeting to be held on 5th February 2022 and to engage in dialogue with business operators from Russia.

The Ministry will provide the necessary support for entrepreneurs to meet and contact with each other. He called business operators to make efforts for promoting local products and producing in large quantities for the long-term development of destinations and tourist attractions, development of micro, small and medium enterprises and promoting local products.

Later Chairman of Rakhine Hotelier Association (Rakhine Zone) and executive members reported on beautifying and cleaning of destination, electricity sufficiency, and appropriate relaxations on which the Union Minister coordinated essentials. The Union Minister Dr.HtayAung together with Union Minister Dr. KanZawthen held meeting with the delegation led by Russian Minister of Economic Development and discussed boosting tourism industry between Myanmar and Russia.

At the meeting, the Union Minister discussed establishing policies and cooperate in the development of economic sectors of the two countries, tourist arrivals to Myanmar, tourist attractions, existence of beaches and Ngapali beach and the unique beauty of the beach area. He also explained the agreements on tourism cooperation between Myanmar and Russia and the preparation of the draft memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation between the two countries.

The Union Minsters together with the Russian Minister and delegates viewed around Amazing Ngapali Resort, Bayview Beach Resort andSandoway Resort and showed hotel rooms and services.
