Bolivian Senator Jeanine Anez was sworn in as interim president on Tuesday. Anez has told media her role as president is only provisional until transparent elections are held.

Morales' resignation came after the Organization of American States (OAS) declared there were serious irregularities during the Oct. 20 vote. Street clashes, looting and road blocks have shaken the nation since the election, and there have been more flare-ups since he resigned. Lawmakers across the political divide were called to attend a meeting of Bolivia's Legislative Assembly to formally accept Morales' resignation and plan for next steps with Anez at the head of the government.
