


Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held a meeting with President of China Mr Xi Jinping during his stay in Moscow on 9th May.
At the meeting, the Chinese President expressed deep condolences for the damage and losses caused by the recent major earthquake in Myanmar, and stated that the government and people of Myanmar will work hand in hand to carry out reconstruction and recovery efforts effectively.
He also affirmed to provide necessary assistance as needed. Noting the 75th anniversary of China-Myanmar relations, the Chinese President reaffirmed their consistent support for Myanmar’s development, sovereignty, and stability. He pledged to continue Chinese assistance in Myanmar’s development and peace-building efforts.
The Prime Minister said the government and people of Myanmar remain deeply grateful for China’s continuous support for relief and rehabilitation efforts in quake-hit areas.
Since reconstruction is a long-term process, Myanmar earnestly hopes to continue offering support and assistance from China as needed. He also expressed gratitude for China's support in regional and international fronts regarding the country’s affairs, saying that Myanmar is currently undertaking preparations to successfully hold a multiparty democratic general election by the end of this year, inviting international observers. He stressed that Myanmar also supports China’s efforts to build a community with a shared future and to establish new foundations for cooperation with neighbouring countries.
The Chinese President discussed that following the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence in international relations, China will continue to stand by Myanmar both regionally and internationally, and support Myanmar’s preparations for the upcoming elections. The two sides also exchanged views on promoting bilateral relations, enhancing cooperation in various sectors, initiating a Pauk-Phaw relationship between the two countries, and cooperation for regional peace and stability.
