Bilateral Meeting: Prevention Of Illicit Trafficking In Narcotic Drugs

The 5thMyanmar-Bangladesh Bilateral Meeting on Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, organized by CCDAC, Myanmar was held on Thursday.
The Bangladesh delegation led by the Director General of Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) Md. Abdul WahhabBhuiyan and Myanmar delegation led by Joint Secretary of the Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control, Commander of the Drug Enforcement Division Police Brig-Gen Win Naing attended the meeting through video conferencing.Delegates from the two countries discussed Experiences and challenges encountered in solving the problems, drug seizure cases, issues that will be cooperated between the two countries, information exchange in a timely manner, joint patrolling and holding the 6th meeting by Bangladesh.
At the meeting, Police Brig-Gen Win Naing said that it is affecting to health, peace and stability and development due to drug problems which have been a long-term threat to all humanity around the world and many new challenges continue to be encountered in dealing with drug problems.
He said that drug control activities must be coordinated due to the emergence of new man-made drugs with good quality and low prices.
He also discussed closely cooperation in handling narcotic drug issues, priority on systematic control of precursor chemicals and 39 types of chemicals that are used in the production of drugs.
