Bilateral Meeting: Myanmar-China Foreign Ministers hold bilateral talks

Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe on Saturday met with a Chinese delegation led by Mr. Wang Yi, member of the Chinese Communist Party Political Bureau and Foreign Minister, to discuss strengthening Myanmar-China relations.

Topics included promoting peace and stability along the border, supporting Myanmar’s development, combating illegal activities, and enhancing bilateral cooperation in regional and international forums.

Union Minister U Tin Maung Swe expressed appreciation for China’s support for Myanmar’s peace and post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to the One-China policy, and endorsed China’s global initiatives. The Chinese delegation praised Myanmar’s successful elections and stability under the new government.

After the meeting, agreements on post-earthquake housing donations for monasteries and nunneries, and cooperation in space research and peaceful use of outer space were signed.
