Biden visits hurricane-hit Florida, pledges full support

US President Joe Biden has visited the southern US state of Florida, pledging substantial support to areas hit by a series of hurricanes. Biden viewed coastal areas and other parts of western Florida on Sunday. These areas were battered by Hurricane Helene in late September, and then by Hurricane Milton, which made landfall in the state last Wednesday.

Biden spoke after viewing the damage and stressed that "a whole government effort" is underway to deliver meals and fuel to impacted areas and to restore communications there. Biden announced 612 million dollars of support to help restore power and fortify the region's power system.
