Better Transportation: Roads and Bridges Construction In Dawei Inspected

Dawei District Road Department under the Ministry of Construction is undertaking the construction of detour road section (2), and 80% of earth works have been completed so far.

The road will be targeted to build as two-lane earthen road, and will be upgraded as a gravel road in next fiscal year. Union Minister U Shwe Lay on January 13th, inspected the progress of construction works. He also inspected the construction of 148 ft long PaukTaing Bridge, being implemented by the Bridge Department.

The Union Minister later met with the staff from the departments under the Ministry in Taninthayi Region and stressed the needs to accelerate the roads and bridges upgrading works for smooth transportation process.

He also point out the needs to prioritize the construction of rural roads and bridges for socio-economic development of rural people. He also emphasized for timely completion of the works, meeting the set standards.
