Beautiful and durable slippers: Locally made slippers are high demand in market

Now, the slippers and sandals are produced in local with various designs extensively.

The raw materials for producing slippers and sandals are taken from fiber factories and sole factories.  In combination with leathers, the slippers are produced with new and beautiful designs, a local slipper business man said.

Soe Min Naing, Slipper Business Owner said “We produce men and women slippers, Pon Daw slippers, sandals, heels as well as child slippers. We design slippers with sequins, embroidery and fabric for beautiful designs. For the market-place, the slippers must be strong, good tailoring and good quality.”

Currently, the slippers are high demand in local markets and the customers from local order 10,000 or 100,000 pairs, individually. In summer season, the slippers are higher demand than other season.

Soe Min Naing, Slipper Business Owner said “We have to compete the markets of slippers and heels imported from abroad. We encourage to the local slippers because we design the slippers and sandals with sequins and embroideries. Our slippers are artful. But we take times to compete with international markets.”

Although there are difficulties during COVID period, online sales are arranged for the customers in rural areas, the business Owner said. There are over 400 registered footwear factories in Yangon Region. Depending on the number of slippers, the makers earn up to 20,000 kyats.
