Bear holed up in northern Japan may have escaped by unlocking window

On Tuesday morning, a bear attacked two men at a factory in Fukushima’s Sasakino district. The animal went on to attack two more people elsewhere. All four sustained injuries. The bear then holed up in a company office.Later on Tuesday, the city authorized the emergency use of tranquilizer guns to catch the bear.

Police and city officials surrounded the building overnight and on Wednesday to wait for a chance to shoot it. Officials and police said the bear could still be hiding somewhere in the area, and are advising people to stay on the alert.
