




The Department of Resources for Health under the Ministry of Health has been training and producing medical doctors annually. For 2022-2023 academic years, 332 house surgeons from Universities of Medicines in Yangon, Mandalay and Magway and 66 house surgeons from Universities of Dental medicine in Yangon and Mandalay, totaling 398 will serve as internship doctors for one year starting from 18th July.
In honor of those fresh graduates, welcome ceremony was held virtually at the University of Medicine-1 (Yangon), Monday. Union Minister for Health Prof. Dr Thet Khaing Win urged the doctors to cherish and value their noble profession while polishing their professional knowledge and professional skills, so also contribute in improvement of the public health.
So far, the Ministry of Health has produced 47,313 doctors, 5,427 dentists, 4,203 pharmacists, 4,501 medical technicians, 9,454 nursing science graduates and 2,356 basic health professionals. Currently, 140 diploma, master, Ph.D. and post-graduate courses are being opened. As of 31st December 2021, 3,727 diploma holders, 10,936 graduates in Master of medical science and 1,506 Ph.D. degree holders have been produced.
