







Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi attended the opening ceremony of the Workshop on Bamboo Cultivation, Shoot Production, and Handicraft Sector Technology Development on Tuesday at the Forest Department in Nay Pyi Taw.
In his opening remarks, the Union Minister emphasized the crucial importance of upgrading operations, developing technology, and meeting quality standards to ensure that bamboo shoots and bamboo products reach not only domestic but also international markets.
He noted that the Ministry is collaborating with private entrepreneurs to facilitate the availability of raw materials, streamline processes, and enhance technology for the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises that utilize timber, rattan, and bamboo raw materials. He urged related departments, organizations, and local communities to cooperate for the comprehensive development of Myanmar's bamboo sector.
Afterward, the Union Minister observed the displayed bamboo shoot, products and posters. Following this, the workshop continued with presentations and discussions on topics such as Myanmar's bamboo production and bamboo resource inventory, technology for producing bamboo-based industrial products, market and future prospects, the construction of bamboo structures and market demand, and the availability of raw bamboo materials and value-added production. Group discussions were also held, and their results were reviewed.
