Following the announcement of reopening schools on 1st November, 2021 in various parts of Myanmar, preparations have been made in schools to welcome students back under the COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
Since early October, the Ministry of Health vaccinated the students of basic education middle and high schools, monastic schools and private schools who have enrolled for 2021-2022 academic year to grab their learning opportunities, reduce the death toll and infection rate among the students and prevent the spread of disease. The basic education middle and high schools around Yangon including No (2) Basic Education High School Sanchaung reopen this morning on the 1st of November, 2021.
Principle, NO (2)B.E.H.S Sanchaung, Dr. Sandar Mya Nyein said “I feel very thankful to reopen schools because the students can achieve learning opportunities. When the condition of the Covid-19 infections is declined, we get instructions of 8 posters since October to reopen school. Teaching and non- teaching staff at our school has been vaccinated. Some students learn via online and learn other languages but some spend their time by playing games. So, reopening schools is good for the students and the students should learn at their age of learning.”
High School Student, No (2) B.E.H.S Sanchaung, Khit Hay Mar Thaw said “I feel happy for reopening of the schools. When I stay at home, I do nothing but when the school reopens, we have to learn and keep in touch with studying and also teachers and classmates. I can try more for my dream and also meeting with friend is pleasant to me. During the period of school closing, I study via online.”
The basic education schools (including private schools and monastic education schools) closed temporarily as of 9th July, 2021 in order to control and prevent the spreading of COVID-19 infection in time. According to the announcement of the central committee for the Covid-19 Prevention, Control and treatment, Basic Education Schools from 46 Townships of Regions and States will remain closed in order to control Covid-19. Except those 46 townships in nine states and regions, Basic education schools under the Department of Basic Education (including private schools and monastic schools) in all townships reopen starting 1st November.
