Awareness Training Course: MoSWRR UM delivered the opening address

The opening ceremony of the Gender/CEDAW/NSPAW/AGMSF/WPS Awareness Training Course, organized by the Department of Social Welfare under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, was held at the Collective Meeting Hall of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on December 22.

Union Minister Dr. Soe Win, attended and delivered the opening address. At the ceremony, Union Minister Dr. Soe Win stated that this training course is being conducted to enhance understanding of the Gender/CEDAW/NSPAW/AGMSF/WPS processes, in which Myanmar is participating in line with global efforts on gender equality and women's rights.

The aims are to facilitate the implementation of Gender Mainstreaming in the work processes of respective ministries, and to further promote women's rights by strengthening coordination and collaboration among ministries and organizations. He urged that, using the knowledge gained from the training, participants should assist in emphasizing and connecting with the policies and strategies formulated and implemented by relevant ministries under the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (2023-2032).

He also encouraged the sharing of practical Gender Mainstreaming methods, along with any challenges and best practices, if available, from their respective ministries and organizations. Subsequently, the trainees introduced themselves, and the opening ceremony concluded at 10:30 a.m. The lessons will be explained and discussed, and interactive Q&A sessions will be conducted, with the training course to be held over two days, it’s reported.
