



At the Central Bank of Myanmar Monday morning, an awareness-raising training on the responsibilities of reporting organizations and preventive measures in relation to the Anti-Money Laundering Law (2026) was held.
At the opening ceremony of the training, the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, Dr. Khin Naing Oo, stated that the awareness training being held today is both timely and important for ensuring the stability and strength of the country’s financial sector and for aligning with international standards.
She said that anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) processes are matters of special concern not only in Myanmar but also in countries around the world. He added that through this awareness training, banks and financial institutions would benefit from developing a stronger compliance culture, reducing errors and loopholes, and improving the quality of reporting systems, among other advantages.
During the training, Deputy Director U Thu Rein Aung from the Special Investigation Department delivered a presentation titled “Explanations on the New Anti-Money Laundering Law and Interpretations, Review of Practical Implementation Opportunities and Disputes.” Lieutenant Police Colonel Ye Htut Hlaing from the Financial Intelligence Team discussed the topic of “Supervision.” Lieutenant Police Colonel Kyu Kyu Sein presented on “Preventive Measures and Reporting Obligations.”
In addition, Director Daw Kyay Mon from the Central Bank of Myanmar gave a presentation titled “Discussion Linking Chapters 9 and 13 of the 2026 Anti-Money Laundering Law for Banks and Financial Institutions.”, it’s learnt.
