Australia and Indonesia will begin their first joint military exercise this week, following a new cooperation agreement. Exercise Keris Woomera, taking place in Indonesia, involves over 2,000 troops departing from Darwin. This marks Australia’s largest bilateral military activity with Indonesia in recent years, aimed at strengthening their relationship and enhancing regional security.

The exercise will include live-fire operations to improve interoperability between the two nations' armed forces. Exercise Keris Woomera is part of the Indo-Pacific Endeavour initiative, which includes collaboration with 13 other countries focused on maintaining security in the region.
