ASEAN / Russia: Union Minister Joins Foreign Ministers’ Special Meeting

The Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin joined the ASEAN-Russian Foreign Ministers’ Special Meeting via video conferencing on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on the COVID-19 containment, rehabilitation in the post-COVID-19 era, architecture issue in the Asia-Pacific region and the proposal by Russia to host ASEAN-Russian Summit.

In this meeting, the Union Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin stressed the situation regarding COVID-19 vaccination, control and prevention measures in Myanmar.

He also highlighted the need to make efforts for green recovery, to accelerate cooperation for economic recovery through the tourism sector and to tackle the security threats in the region.

Regarding the political situation in Myanmar, the Union Minister said that the Five-Point Road Map of the State Administration Council is a plan to establish a genuine democratic system in line with the 2008 Constitution.
