Myanmar handicrafts of small scale industries are displayed at Myanmar Handicraft Centre of the Small-Scale Industries Department in Yangon.
As a special program, the Small-Scale Industries Department is making arrangements in cooperation with related departments for those who want to bring the wood craving items to abroad as a souvenir.
Kyaw Zin Latt, Deputy Director General, Small Scale Industries Department said “There are restrictions for carving wood items to bring to abroad as well as jewelries such as jades. We have arranged in cooperation with relevant departments to ease on taking handicraft materials to abroad. I’d like to convey a message that if the foreigners buy souvenirs at the Myanmar Handicraft Center, arrangements have been made for them to allow bringing the items at the airport without difficulties.”
The Department also arranges to organize the seminars and workshops of handicraft entrepreneurs at the Myanmar handicrafts Center. It will coordinate with the Ministry of Commerce for Myanma handicraft to get a foot hold in the international markets. The center is opened daily from 9 am to 5 pm except Tuesday.
