Army deployed in Beirut following earlier clashes

Lebanese army troops reinforced their deployment in the Sin El-Fil neighbourhood in Eastern Beirut because a clash erupted on Monday evening between the supporters of Lebanese Forces party and the Free Patriotic Movement. According to local Lebanese media, gunfire erupted during the presence of a huge convoy of the Lebanese Forces party on the highway outside the Free Patriotic Movement's headquarters. The Lebanese army separated the supporters of the two parties. The turmoil comes to the backdrop of rising poverty, anger and divisions among the Lebanese.
