Ariane 6 lifts off with European weather satellite

The Ariane 6 rocket lifted off from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, carrying the MTG-I2 weather satellite on Thursday. Developed by the European Space Agency, the satellite is designed to help detect extreme weather events in Europe more quickly. This is Ariane 6's fourth mission of the year and the first in which the launcher is due to place a satellite into geostationary orbit.
