Argentina’s central bank has unveiled a new 20,000 peso banknote. This move comes as the country grapples with ongoing economic issues.
The new bill, worth about 20 dollars at the official exchange rate, will enter circulation on Thursday. The central bank claims this step will cut costs and meet peso demand. This approach allows for fewer bills to meet the same cash demand from the public.
The new banknote features Alberdi, a key figure in Argentina’s 1853 constitution. His birthplace is depicted on the reverse side. Alberdi was a lawyer, writer, journalist, philosopher, economist, diplomat, and politician.
