AOSWADA presented: MSWRR UM delivered the opening remarks

The 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (AMMSWD) and Related Meetings, which Myanmar is hosting via video conference from August 26 to 29, is taking place at the M-Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

On August 27, the 3rd ASEAN Outstanding Social Welfare and Development Awards (AOSWADA) were presented. The awards recognize non-governmental and private sector organizations in ASEAN that work on issues related to children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Organizations from ASEAN countries attended online, while those from Myanmar attended in person. The award ceremony was attended by the rotating chair of AMMSWD, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr. Soe Win, who gave the opening remarks.

Following this, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, U San Lwin, delivered a welcoming speech. The names of the winning organizations from ASEAN countries were then announced, and the Union Minister presented the awards to the winners from Myanmar.

A total of 16 organizations from 8 ASEAN countries received the awards. From Myanmar, AGE Myanmar and the Myanmar Creative University - Myanmar Creative International College (MCU-MCI) were among the recipients. Following the ceremony, the 21st ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Social Welfare and Development was held, chaired by the Director-General of the Department of Social Welfare, who serves as the rotating chair of ASEAN.
