Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong witnessed the historic moment of the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) project being symbolically “connected” between two countries.

The RTS Link project is a commuter train network about four kilometres long with two stations, one each at Bukit Chagar, Johor and at Woodlands North, Singapore. With a capacity of up to 10-thousand passengers per hour in each direction and a journey time of about five minutes between the two stations.

Separately, both Anwar and Lee later witnessed the MOUsigning ceremony for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) between the two countries. Under the MOU, the neighbouring countries will work towards enhancing cross-border flows of goods and people as well as strengthen the business ecosystem within JS-SEZ to support investments.
