The National Defense and Security Council issued Order No. 5/2026 on March 2.
It stated that the Acting President, in commemoration of the full moon day of Tabaung and 64th Anniversary Peasants' Day, and to bring peace of mind to the public; and out of humanitarian considerations, granted reduction of sentence by one-sixth to the prisoners included male and female serving sentences in prisons/lockups/camps before March 2, 2026, excluding the specific crimes.
Likewise, by Order No.6/2026, the Acting President granted amnesty to 2,825 prisoners included male and female serving sentences in prisons/lockups/camps.
Under Section 401, Sub-section (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and on the condition that if they reoffend, they will have to serve not only the new sentence but also the remaining portion of the current sentence, their remaining sentences are commuted.
In addition, with the Order No.7/2026, the Acting President granted amnesty and deportation to 10 foreign male and female prisoners serving sentences in prisons/lockups/camps, in order to promote friendly relations among nations, and emphasizing humanitarian considerations.
Moreover, by Order No.8/2026, the Acting President granted amnesty to 7,337 prisoners included male and female serving sentences in prisons/lockups/camps for the crimes regarding the Counter Terrorism Law Sections 50(J) and 52(A).

Similarly, by Order No.9/2026, the Acting President granted the closure of 9,532 cases for 12,487 individuals who are evading under the Counter Terrorism Law Sections 50(J) and 52(A) and Codd of Criminal Procedure Section 512. The orders were signed by Aung Lin Dwe Executive Chief.
