Agriculture Sector: Meeting for summer paddy project in Magway Region

For the summer paddy project to be implemented with the state economic promotion fund, Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin held a meeting with farmers.

During the meeting in KanSwal Village of Pwintphyu Township, regional head of the Department of Agriculture said that the project is to increase yield per acre by using inputs, to ensure price and market stability, to increase the country's economy by making farmers earn more income, to create more job opportunities and to connect private entrepreneurs to foreign markets.

In response to the questions raised by the farmers, the Chief Minister said that this project will be implemented successfully as a pilot and will continue to be implemented in future seasons, and will benefit all participants in the entire business chain, including farmers.

15,000 acres of summer paddy will be cultivated in Pwintphyu Township and farmers involved in the project will be given paddy strain, fertilizer and pesticide worth 200,000 Kyats. In Magway Region, the summer project with the state economic promotion fund will be implemented in 25,000 acres of 6 townships in 62 village-tracts.
