Agriculture Sector: Meeting for quick transition to mechanized farming system

In order to quickly transition from a manual farming system to a mechanized farming system, efforts are being for farmers to handle, use and maintain agricultural equipment by themselves and there is a need to systematically train and teach the workers in the private farm service sector for full efficiency.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi made the remark in the meeting at the Mechanization Training School in Nay Pyi Taw. Attendees reported on ongoing trainings for farmers, capacity builing and advanced training for staff and in-service training.

In his response, the Deputy Minister stressed the ability to meet the need for skilled human resources for mechanized farming and training with the use of machines used from plowing the land to harvesting.

The Deputy Minister also inspected the teaching aid and equipment and discussed the issues to expand the opening of advanced courses including mechanized agriculture diploma courses.

Also, the Deputy Minister visited the Agricultural Education and Rural Development Training Institute [AERDTC], heard reports on training programmes, gave necessary instructions and inspected training halls, mess room and student dormitories.

The Deputy Minister also inspected seeds storage, research activities, library and training hall in the seed bank of the Department of Agricultural Research.
