Activity in Nay Pyi Taw: Development of libraries and promoting the reading habit

A ceremony for development of libraries and promoting the reading habit took place in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife.

The ceremony commenced with the performance by the students of No.11 Basic Education High School of Nay Pyi Taw Zabuthiri Township, followed by screening of a video clip. The ceremony continued with the speech, given by Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

During the ceremony, well-wishers made contributions for emergence of libraries across the country. The Prime Minister also provided cash assistance for development of libraries and books and periodicals. This was followed by discussion on the benefits of studying literature by Retired Rector of Mandalay University, various literature awardees Dr Maung Thin.

The ceremony concluded with the performance by the students from the basic education schools in Nay Pyi Taw Council area. The Prime Minister and attendees later viewed the displays of books and periodicals as well as the documentary photos.
