Agriculture Development: MoALI Union Minister Tours to Meikhitla and Yamethin

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut  Oo met with Water User Groups from ZawGi KinTar Dam on 17th May. They discussed for extended implementation of agriculture and livestock works.

The Union Minister also stressed that due to the changing climatic condition, agriculture sector has been facing the scarcity of water. With the systematic formation of water user groups, the problems have been tackled to some extent by using water efficiently. He also instructed to form the Agriculture and Livestock Cooperative Association for better market penetration and the Ministry will provide necessary assistance for forming of the association in line with the law.

The Union Minister and party later visited Central Institute for Mechanized Farming in Meikhtila, and observed the conducting of mechanical training for tractors.

They then met with grape growers in Yamethin Township and discussed market condition, production of value added products like dried grapes and wine, export market and formation of Grape Growers Cooperative Association.
