Agricultural Sector: Union Ministers Inspected Dried Tea Leaves And Fruits

The Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo and Union Minister for Cooperatives, Rural Development U Hla Moe and Shan State Chief Minister Dr. Kyaw Tun met with the coffee and tea farmers’ groups of Danu Self-Administered Zone to fulfill the requirements regarding with the cultivation was held at the Danu Self-Administered Zone Administration Council Office, Pindaya Township, Shan State on June 8.

At the meeting, Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo said that the efforts need to make for the expansion of cultivation acreages and quality enhancement to meet the target of Myanma Coffee to be high quality major export items etc.  

Next, the Union Minister U Hla Moe discussed to work as the cooperatives of coffee and tea basic groups and the ministry’s assistance to produce value-added products, the advantages of cooperatives acquiring market share, the practices of accumulating capital fund and opportunities for business expansion etc.

Then, the Shan State Chief Minister Dr. Kyaw Tun clarified the agriculture and livestock breeding in Shan State and the future prospects, requirements for expansion of coffee and tea cultivation and the assistances providing by the state government. Next, the attendees of representatives from the coffee and tee groups reported the experiences encountered in the works and requirements and the union ministers and chief minister supplemented discussion to fulfill the needs.

After the meeting, the union ministers and chief minister provided auxiliary equipments needed for the production of good quality coffee and tea and the representatives of coffee and tea groups accepted them. From there, the union minister and chief minister took a tour to Naungtaya potato cold storage in Pin Laung Township, inspected storage of pedigree seeds of potatoes and gave necessary instructions.

Next, the union ministers and chief minister visited Naungtaya tea leaves and fruits factory and viewed the production process of dried tea leaves and dried fruit of pineapple.

In the evening, the union ministers and chief minister met wit the coffee and tea cultivators groups at the garden, vegetables and plant biotechnology division, agriculture department, Pin Laung Township, gave necessary suggestions and provided auxiliary equipments needed for the production of good quality coffee and tea to the coffee and tea cultivators groups, it’s reported.
