





An additional award presentation ceremony, where the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism conferred medals and certificates of honor upon the winners of the ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards from the ASEAN Tourism Forum-2026 held in Cebu, Philippines, in January 2026, was held at Hotel Max in the Hotel Zone, Nay Pyi Taw on February 9.
Union Minister for the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism Jeng Phang Naw Taung attended and delivered the opening remarks. In his opening address, the Union Minister stated that in order to formulate and implement strategies for the sustainable development of the tourism sector within the ASEAN region, ASEAN Tourism Standards were established and promulgated as early as 2008 with the aim of strengthening sector-specific cooperation among all tourism stakeholders.
To date, a total of 11 standards have been approved, and awards according to the respective standards are presented in ASEAN member states. Myanmar has won 24 ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards this year, and from 2008 when the awards were first presented until today, a total of 158 awards have been received across various years.
He urged the ASEAN Tourism Standards Award winners to strive to continue maintaining their service standards, to strictly follow the guidelines outlined in the standards, and to work hard to achieve other standard awards as well. Following that, a video documenting the achievements of the ASEAN Tourism Standards Award winners was shown.
The Union Minister, Deputy Minister, and Permanent Secretary then presented medals and certificates of honor to the winners of the ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards. Subsequently, Chairman of the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, U Yan Win, and on behalf of the ASEAN Tourism Standards Award winners, Managing Director of Max Myanmar Limited, U Bo Chan Tun, delivered words of thanks, and commemorative photos were taken with the award winners, it’s reported.
